Twelve years ago, Star was the first ever television network in the industry to introduce stand up comedy through The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. The star performers of Season 1 became overnight sensations all over India and abroad. Their witticisms and style are still fondly remembered and recreated. Four more seasons followed, and then after a gap of 9 years, Star Plus is back with the latest season of Laughter Challenge – upgraded, updated and youth oriented. With comics and comedy currently proliferating the Internet, Laughter Challenge 5 includes three internet comic superstars as mentors on the show – actor and comic - Mallika Dua, one of India’s best stand up comics - Zakir Khan and writer/actor - Hussain Dalal. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, renowned for his comic timing is the super judge on the show. Together, they are in search of the next Indian comic sensation.
